Default Ever have a really good day at the junk yard

Well I saw an add for some 20" jaguar rims for a 2001 xkr on craigslist. They looked like Coventry Hornets and they were only $450. I call and they are like come take a look. Well I got there a day to late they were sold. But what they did have was a complete 2001 Silverstone xkr convertible that they came off of. They didn't have the keys but on the windshield there was a service oil sticker that said like 24,000 miles....The car itself had an interior fire in the rear (maybe a cigarette>>??)The Silverstone door sills still there . Front seats dash (black with red stitching)and all were untouched along with center console and maybe even the rear seat or part of it. The convertible top was melted. The engine looked BRAND NEW..Seriously. Under the car new. A real shame actually. So anyways...I managed to score a seat module, a rear exhaust hanger (Mine had snapped and I didn't do it!), passenger sun visor (My mirror broke when dying them black), center console lid (I broke my cup holder..grrrr) and..and....A complete set of brembos with stainless lines and rotors all for $700. I been looking for these calipers for so long..cant TELL YOU how excited that made me. If there is anyone that needs specific parts like the front seats console or sills that are Silverstone specific they are still there. The place is Sambucci Brothers in Garden City Park NY. (516) 747-0250 They cant tell you what kind of miles are on it but by the looks of it the car had very low miles. Id totally believe in the 20,000 range...Anyways...SO HAPPY..I just had to share

Great score on the brembos.

I see XJR's that are a couple feet from the grave on CL and they could be parted out for about what they are asking... but I don't need any more parts cars... and then I need bigger wheels and the "sleeper" stock look goes away.

People ask ridiculous amounts for these calipers. My stealth look is long gone however. Think hey will look lovely behind my wheels@

Somebody is going to be as happy as you when they get the engine from that one.

Sadly a good day raking around the scrappy is fast becoming a thing of the past here. They have all become Vehicle Recycling Centres or something like that and the Health and safety brigade would no doubt frown on people climbing around cars piled 2 or 3 deep. My local centre has Operatives with radios who remove parts for customers while they enjoy a coffee in the Customers Waiting Room. Hmph takes all the fun out of it.

Let's see now ...

4 rotors, freshly turned
2 front calipers (rebuildable cores)
1 intake tube
1 exhaust hanger
1 front brake backing plate
1 alternator, cleaned
1 marker light

$110

and it was a tire shop that had all the parts off the
car and ready for pickup except the stuff I added while
looking around. The owner wanted the SC for his Lexus
project.
