Everything is wrong
It started out as a fritzy transmission, where an intermittent "Transmission Fault" would put the car in limp home mode/4th gear. A few restarts and jiggling of the gearshift and it would go away.
Then came the night I was driving home and "clunk", the transmission did something (decided to go into park with the lever in drive?), followed by RAPID deceleration...I have the presence of mind to quickly get the car in neutral and coast off to the side of the road. Shifting back into drive did not show any unusual behavior, and as I was 0.75 miles from home, I thought I'd give it another go rather than call the tow truck. I made it to my street before it happened again, this time locking the real wheels when in clunks. Lightening fast reflexes got me into neutral again (incidentally, the flexible coupling between the aft end of the tranny and the driveshaft is damaged now, probably occurred during that incident). I pushed the car into the driveway and did not drive it again that fall and winter.
Got the car running in the spring. Car shifts fine into reverse and drops 4th/limp home mode fine. By this time I finally started getting some error codes in addition to the Transmission Fault. Something about an error with the transmission 1/2 solenoid. Pulled the transmission pan, checked the resistance on all solenoids, all within spec. Applied power to all solenoids and got a click. Changed the transmission filter, put the pan up, and refilled with fresh fluid. No change. Got discouraged, and gave up for many months.
Maintained the battery and would start the car from time to time to warm it up and keep the fluids circulating. More error codes developed in the coming months and the car randomly got sicker and sicker. Currently, the display reads:
Transmission Fault
Incorrect Part Fitted
Restricted Performance
Reading the codes, I get:
P1642
P0753
P1000
P1643
The climate control display sometimes beeps and reads "Err".
For a while, if you locked the passenger door, it would wait half a second and then unlock itself.
Sometimes the car refuses to crank at all.
The Car and I are not in a good place right now. I hate the car. It tries to hurt me. It is too sick for me to sell. If it wasn't so sick, I would love it too much to sell. I'm in an abusive relationship with it.
Why am I sharing my troubles? First, I am looking for something, any I could try to diagnose/fix it. I have no idea where to start on this one, though I'd guess it's poor little electronic brain is at the root of all this, Maybe a short? Corrosion on the connections between the TCM and the transmission?
Should I give up doing it myself? Take it to ... a shop? Are repairs going to be more than the car is worth? I don't even know where to take it. Transmission shop? General mechanic? "Foreign Car Specialist"?
Scrap it?
Push it into the bay?
Part out whatever components aren't broken?
Viking Funeral?
Second, if I do somehow bring the cat back to health, I will be sure to report it here. Then, I need somebody to remind me that I need to sell it.
No matter how much I love it.

On the transmission it is probably the pressure regulator / " A " drum fault that is easy and cheap to resolve if not broken the " A " drum . Common
There is a self test of the A/C system on the control panel you can do yourself
Door ?
When the engine intermittently rotates with the starter you can swap relays and see how it does . Sometimes you can tap on the relay to prove it is bad . Do you have rotation but no light off ?

Much more expertise than I have got is available here, but just for starters ................
0753 would indicate a problem with the Transmission Shift Solenoid. 1642 & 1643 are problems with the CAN (Controller Area Network). The ACC problem will go away - it's only there because the CAN carries engine temperature data and if the CAN has a problem, the ACC doesn't get the information it needs.
There may indeed be a mechanical issue with the transmission but I think it would be worth checking all the connectors on the CAN - particularly the ones on the "Major Instrument Pack" (speedo/rev counter etc) and the little printed circuit board in the gear selector J Gate, and also the connector(s) on the transmission itself under the car.

Welcome to the world of Jaguars. Anyone who keeps an out of warranty Jag for any period of time will end up... upside down.
And most of us could care less.
It seems like alot going on and I have been there. Just tackle one thing at a time and don't give up. If you keep your Jag for any length of time you will have more into it than it's worth. You know like some of our better halves...

It would be nice to actually drive the car.

Rather that enduring any further frustration.....this car has a trans that fits other cars, and i think a trans shop can be a good place to start.
have car towed to transhop that says over the phone they can fix a jag trans....any name brand place
take the fix, get it moving again so you can either sell it or love it again....
and now it is just a parts car, if that's what you want to sell it as then you have plan b,
either case, car does not fix itself and you really sound like you want to move in some way?
