All set to install my new 4.0 engine in my 2001 XK8. All the parts I need to install the engine came except the exhaust gaskets are on back order. Its the gasket that goes between the manifold and the exhaust pipe. Can the old gaskets be reused? They look to be in good shape. I do not want to have problems down the road, but I would also like to install the engine.

 

I have re-used those 'squarish' gaskets in the past when the parts dept was out of stock. I was not going to wait a day or 2 when the engine was sitting ready to be installed.

I smeared some anti-seize compound on both sides and installed them. The cars never came back with an exhaust leak.

New ones are preferred but......
