unless you have an "R", the X or H pipe will not give you anymore HP. Go with the center muffler removal and an H pipe, save lot's of $ and enjoy the sound.

I just did it! Local muffler shop, remove, replace and build "h" crossover = $120 and done in 45 minutes! Results - Satisfaction and sound - Priceless!!!

No drone at highway speed, not still soft at idle, just right when the hammer goes down! So far only with the top down - we'll see when it is closed - but that doesn't happen here until October.

Thanks to all for the commentary and pics - especially to Matt for the diagrams. I think the muffler folk thought I actually knew what I was talking about.

Now to the next thing. Best, DaleD

I'm so proud of you Dale! Congrats!!!

Can we get a start up video with sound? I love hearing a good XK* exhaust note.

So, does it "feel" any faster?

You know - it does! Using the "s" mode now to hold the shift points a bit, and the sounds as it goes through the gears makes one want to press the pedal a bit more.

Someone said the only cars that would actually increase hp were the Rs - and my local tech said the factory muffler was "quite restrictive". It seems smoother - and coupled with 4 new Raptors - serenity! DaleD

That reminds me, I still haven't taken better video of my exhaust. Maybe I can do that tomorrow.

Default Removing the exhaust

How does it sound with the exhaust being removed? How does this effect MPG?

lots of video clips in the other 'center muffler removed' thread...check it out.

MPG affected in mine lower, but that's because I like to give it more throttle than normal from a stop. Highway MPG is exactly the same.

I put on the Adamesh catback straight pipes which eliminate the two back mufflers behind the tailpipes with straight pipes. It sounds better at all speeds, not too loud, just about right.
