Default Exported XK8 to Dubai - Non Cat Converter

Hi everyone,

I have recently imported my XK8 from the UAE where it spent its life thus far. I now find there was no Cat Converter fitted on export as this wasnt a requirement at the time.

I now want to sell the car into Europe and discover that it needs a CAT to meet Euro 2 standards. I can't sell it there without that.

I need to fit a CAT, Oxygen sensor and posiibly a different ECU?

Does anyone have the expertise or knowledge of this job and how/where it can be done please and thank you.

Regards

Welcome to the forums Mack Mack,

You recently imported a 1998 XK8 from UAE to UK and now you want to sell it?

I presume money wasn't a consideration in your decision to do that but it could cost you more than the vehicle will fetch to make it compliant. If you are determined to retrofit then talk to David Marks Garages (David Marks Garages - About Us) in Nottingham. He's one of the best independents in the UK.

Getting the work done will be sufficiently difficult and expensive but gaining Type Approval could prove a real challenge.

Best of luck.

Graham

Default Rest of the World Spec is difficult to fit a Euro spec

You’re hitting a big problem in changing a Rest of the World model into an Euro Spec. Easier to go the other way.

Mack - suspect that you’re trying to “flip” this car.

My experience is the opposite, where in Bahrain, very similar to UAE, there’s very little Enviro regulation ie no EGR. With my new exhaust, I fitted new CATs with no O2 sensors. Seemed the right thing to do for my sports exhaust modification.

Found out at the Dealer that the existing ECM can be reflashed with USA Spec firmware to operate with sensors, if I wanted this option, but wasn’t necessary for me.

A lot for you to think about and not cheap. Still got my old CATs (didn’t rattle which is a good sign) and saw the O2 ports were welded shut.

Whatever you’re up to, I’m not sure the costs will warrant a profit on a flip on a X100 in your case.
