Question External temperature over reading

Just noticed that the displayed external temperature is somewhat optimistic for the UK in autumn. I reckon it's consistently over by about 5 degrees centigrade. Only happened recently after I have been repeatedly connecting and disconnecting the battery to change the instrument panel bulbs and stuff. Is there a reset procedure for this or do I need to be looking at replacing the sender unit? If so where is it located on a RHD 2001 XKR?

Mine has been about 2 degrees over since I bought it. 3 degrees when temps run 100+ F.

Have done the battery reset multiple times for other reasons and no effect on temp reading so far.

I've just learned to subtract.
