Fail safe mode
Traveling from NY to Nashville car ran great first day, 600 plus miles. Stopped for lunch on second day sat for about 1/2hour went to start it, it started but was in fail safe mode, running rough, no throttle pedal. Shut of retried same thing, retried again started and ran fine. Stopped later in the day for about 1hour started up and ran fine, maybe 10 miles down the road just shut down at 70 miles an hour. Same thing tried to star again same thing fail safe tried again ok drove about 50 mile to Nashville no problem even in 3 mile traffic jam. Forgot to pack my code reader but CEL not lit, coolant temp good no higher then 200 deg (real gauge) no visible leaks, runs fine when it's running. 2002 XKR Tensioners and chains done 3,000 miles ago. Any idea's
First guess would failing primary fuel pump (or secondary if primary has already gone dead).
Second guess would be throttle body.
As you know, codes might help narrow it down, but fuel pump failures on on an 2002 do not normally throw codes unless the relays fail (unlikely).

Just got car back from Jaguar of Nashville, they replaced fuel pump, said it was only putting out 20 psi. Thanks for the help WhiteXKR and LondonXK8Boy, it's off to see how they make Jack Daniels in the AM.
