My 03 XKR has rubber flares on the rear wheels. I am missing a couple of the clamps, which I got from the dealer. The issue is that there is a lip on the fender side and I can't spread the clamp wide enough to get over that without the pressure pushing the rubber flare out.
I have tried using needle nose pliers to spread it but, no luck. The clamp has a couple of pointy barbs on one side to keep hold of the rubber and those catch while I am pushing.

Any ideas on if this requires some special body shop tool or should I take it to the dealer or a body shop?
