Default Fender Leapers light up?

Do the green jaguar leaper emblems on the fenders (wings) of my 1998 XK8 light up?

If so, how are the emblems held in place and how do you replace the bulbs?

mine don't light up.

No, the leapers are not illuminated. Side indicators were standard on later cars, but they do not have the leaper logo on them.

My 97 has light up leapers but the wiring harness needs to be added. There's a thread in the forum with the part number that escapes me right now.

One of my leapers fell out and was dangling by the wire. I just glued it back until I get around to adding the wiring harness

One of mine fell out as well & I saw the wire and bulb socket and that is why I thought it would light up.

What holds them in place? I had to use some silicone to hold it in place.

What wire harness? Where would it go to?

From what I heard the side leapers are a North American touch, while in Europe there is a second set of repeaters, hence the harness underneath.

Interesting. The emblems are held onto the fenders with double faced tape, like what 3m sells.

I just popped one of my side leapers off and it indeed was connected to a wire harness but nothing to light.

Lighting the leapers is a US DOT violation. It would confuse the lighting scheme. When a vehicle is in motion and/or displaying DOT approved lighting any other light which does not serve an approved marking, illuminating, signaling or visibility purpose according to the regulations is forbidden.

Well I can shine some light on this lol. On my 2003 I replaced the orange side markers with the green leaper badges because I just liked the look better. In the back of the green leaper badges is a bulb holder clip. In other words it is a place for the bulb socket to clip into so it's not hanging down/freely. And yes, the badges are held on with just two sided tape.
