A few trunk area questions
I should have take a photo...
1. Should I have a full-size spare tire? It seems there's room for one but I have a donut.
2. What is the Hella controller box (which is unplugged) mounted against the back in the wheel well next to the battery? CATS system (was disabled)? Seems odd placement for a lighting module which comes to mind first...
3. What is the longer controller box next to this in the wheel well (plugged in)?
Glad to see the monster battery in here- it looks identical to the massive BOSCH I have in my S8, and I just replaced it recently from original (lasted 10 years).

What size are your wheels? A full size spare does, and is in most cases is present in these cars. Mine has one, but I have the 18 inch, or was it 17 inch, wheels. Maybe the larger 20 or 21 inch sizes require the doughnut, although I doubt it. The larger wheels also tend to have lower profile tires.
As for the other two questions, I have nary a clue.

1) I belive that cars with staggered wheels always came with a space saver. My 2003 is the same way.
2) the cats controller is from hella and is maybe 4x6 inches and about 1.5in thick. It has a long narrow 35 pin connector.
3) ? Maybe a picture would help.

Are the XKRs staggered and XK8s not?

My 2001 XK8 has 18" wheels, wider at the rear than the front and was fitted with a space-saver spare tyre from new, which has never been used. The bonus of this tyre is that it allows you to mount the boot (trunk) floor at its lower height.
I wouldn't wish to use the narrow tyre any further than absolutely necessary
In the UK, even a narrow tyre is becoming rarer, as manufactureres are supplying new cars without a spare, just a can of tyre sealant.

Your XKR came with the donut, there should be a silver decal on the top telling you the tire (tyre) pressure, and I believe not to use it over 50 miles. Some were panted black other red. Others on the forum have opted for a full size spare but as stated by Renaultvation it will cut down on trunk space. On my 2001 XKR it also has the tire bag so if you have to change the tire it has a green bag to put your tire in as to not trash your trunk. I do not believe you would get a 20" in the wheel well, that may be the reason Jaguar supplied the bag.
