Default Filling Gas Problem

Been having an issue in filling up my XK8. It will stop after short time as i is only filling the neck up. The problem happen a while back but did go away but now has returned with a vengeance. I found the "Cant Fill Gas" thread and read that on up and decided tonight to attempt to figure something out with it. Well, after removing a hose in the trunk behind the fuel cell shield i noticed some pressure release from that area. So, with that off, went to the gas station and "tadaa" I got GAS! ( not me my car did) Now comes my question... what is that hose and what needs to be done to fix that issue. I have attached a pic and circled the affected area. Please let me know what I am looking at and some clues on where to go next.

As always... thank you for your help.

Mike

Mike have you tried to fill it again after you reconnected the vent hose? The only time I had problems with mine is when we were up north and they had the fume recovery covers on the noozle. Had to stop refueling, remove the noozle, and start the process over the car would take fuel but at a slow rate. Could only open the valve on the handle about a quarter of the way. Jim

Yes... I did try to fill with that hose connected back and it instantly stopped filling again. It is an issue with whatever that hose goes to down into my floor of the boot.

I have no direct knowledge of this, but I think the Rochester valve or CCV valve might be your problem. Try doing a search.

Hi.

As you can see from the attachements it's a fairly complicated system, which, to be honest, I don't understand too much of.
But as far as I can see, it's going a vent hose all the way forward to the left wheelwell.

Thanks for the documents. I will do some more research on how to replace or even check if it is bad or clogged.

Hi again.

The JTIS (Jaguar Technical Information Service) contains an extensive fault diagnose with lots of failure codes and what to do.
There are different evaporative systems for different markets. I have a US spec. car with dual carbon canisters.
You may check that the vapour purge hose going from the tank to carbon canister in fwd. left wheelwell is open.
A word of caution:
If you fill up your car with the vent hose disconnected, you fill your trunk with gas vapours. That could make a spectacular explosion when you try to start.
