Finally pulled the trigger!
Hi Everyone,
After years of dreaming about XKs I finally pulled the trigger on an XKR a short while back. Some of you might remember my post after a test drive of the same car around April/May. The owner since came back to me with a greatly reduced price and it was time to take a closer look.
I was anxious about damaging the car in my initial test drive. Following advice here, I took it out again, put in in sports mode and put my foot flat to the floor. I suddenly understood what the car was capable of.
There are very few XKs in NZ - I probably see one every 2 or 3 months. This one was the right colours for me (midnight black and cashmere interior) and I like the wheels. Low milage (less than 65,000 kms/40,000 miles), late model, at an excellent price - and life can be short. I just had to say yes. I can't really communicate how happy I am with this car.
This forum is fantastic. I drop by most days to learn everything I can. I'll express my ignorance and add my 2 cents a little more often now, as I am officially a member of 'the club'.
I have included an iPhone snap below - Planning some better photos sometime.

Thank you all for your kind comments!!!
Hmmm. It's stock at the moment and I am keen not to do anything that's irreversible.
Top of my list would probably be the three-gauge thing. One minor defect is that the dash wood is a bit discoloured on the passenger side so I want to replace the whole dash one day anyway.
I might also consider a minor exhaust mod like the Adamesh Velocity Performance bolt-ons just for fun maybe. - Just as easy to unbolt if I don't like them.
No rush though. In the meantime, its fun just getting to know the car as she is, and adapting to being the centre of attention wherever I go!
