Default First test of brushed titanium wrapped console fascia

Just found my roll of brushed titanium wrap on my front porch so of course, to get my mind off the paint color, I decided to pop out the center instrument fascia and give it a try. I ordered plenty so I can practice a bit and test it.

After a few hiccups, I finally got it under control.
I've egot to say it looks pretty smart! Especially with the chrome instrument bezels. And the best part, my indecision is easily reversed!!

Default wrap

I started with a bushed blue, then flat black and carbon fiber, then just went with the carbon fiber. Fun stuff to mess with.

If I post from iPhone or iPad it flips some of the pics. I don't know why! And there's no rhyme or reason.

I ordered several finishes. The one I'm really interested is a straight grain black walnut look. Very dark espresso wood grain. But they were back ordered.
A friend did a really amazing finish. He used chrome wrap first then overlaid a transparent carbon fiber wrap. It looks sooo real!
I want to keep a contrast from my black interior. Decided against the color insets on the seats for now.

Boy love to see a picture of how your friend's car cam out, sounds nice. I'm not a huge fan of color inserts, my car came this way (portfolio addition). Blue is better than the red and the leather is branded Recaro so I don't really want to lose it. There are some Vantage seats on eBay I'm tempted to buy but not at the current price. Sill messing.

I'll see if I can get a pic. He's done a couple cars like that. My fav was a gold chrome under wrap. It's so cool how the metal under wrap reflects like real carbon.

WOW. I just pulled up the forum on my pc and these pics look BAD!! They don't show the brushed finish like they do on my ipad! Trust me, it looks light years better in person!!

Little ticked that the air bag has to be removed to get that panel out. Disconnect battery and everything!!

Very contemporary look. Don't think it would work in my car but it looks great on yours!

When I did that panel I just wrapped it on the car, popping it off to get the edges. It is a reasonably flat panel and not that difficult. I bought a second panel to practice on and to do the initial cut but I didn't really need it.

Philhef,
It looks great, and I'm a traditional kind of guy. Do you attack all tasks in your life as tenaciously as those in your car? Wow!

I actually do. It's a hell of a lot more fun than wishing I had tried something!!

I actually just did that! I put a piece of cardboard over air bag. Ounce of prevention!!
