First Time...
Since I bought my XK8 back in July, I have not seen another XK locally. Well that has changed. I was driving home after dropping my daughter off at daycare.
I saw the taillights infront of me and thought to myself "that looks like it could be a nice car. wonder what it is?"
Then it dawned on me. "No way! It can't be. Not a chance!" I thought as a smile spread across my face.
"OH EM GEE! IT IS! IT IS! And it's green too! That's awesome". At that point I began frantically pointing to myself with a goofy smile on my face. I'm pretty sure the other drivers thought I was on drugs.
So I caught up to it and this is the picture I took. Unfortunately the black soccer mom in it thought she was James Bond as you can tell by the "GOLDNEYE" plate and the 007 sticker. As I was finally able to pull along beside it, I noticed the revolvers were no longer a dull silver but a greasey black with some dull silver spots. The bottom portion of the sides were covered in mud/dirt/leaves. Not very pretty. And even in the light I was in, (mid morning on an overcast and very rainy day), I could see finger prints and smudges on the windows.
She didn't look too happy to see me. She kind of grimmaced, give a little "wtf are tou staring at" smirk and didn't seem to appreciate the sight another one of similar colour and option composition.
With that said, other Jaguar owners always look as I drive by, sometimes they even park near me in parking lots as I tend to do. I love the looks I get from people driving their Boxtsters, XLRs and SL/SLKs. I know they look because I'm generally looking at them as well (I love the XLR).
Soon I hope to get some fall pictures and seeing as the first snow of the season was today, I really need to get the budget for some snow tires.

I get excited too, but most other same-sex car owners don't. Strange. I do work in a small town, and just down the street (literally 1 block) the bank president has a 2002 xkr, silver convertible. We finaly found each other at a local BBQ joint for lunch. He was the rare exception to my usual meetings, he WAS very personal and we spoke for several minutes about our cars.

Most Jaguar owners I've met have thoroughly enjoyed talking (read: politely bragging) about their cars and have always appreciated interest in them, whether or not I was driving mine at the time. But then again, they were all XJ and E-Type owners. Haven't spoken to an XJS owner or another XK owner.
Glad too many people aren't laughing at me for getting excited. At least I don't turn around and follow them to get a better look every time I see them now... well not like I used to...

Good luck anthony, I've been driving Camaros for 7 years now and I have yet to pull up to another side by side, going straight. I've been behind, infront, diagonal and beside a few that have been in turning lanes. Hell, I've even lined up with an XK8 in my Camaro a year or so back.
There's a light green (seafrost or zircon?) coupe XK8 in the same subdivision where I live. There's a dark blue XK8 coupe owned by an employee of a Brake Specialist that I have to pass on my way to work every day. When I went to Yosemite last May - I saw a dark blue XK8 convertible at the valley. And ... when I went to Glacier National Park in Montana the last Labor Day weekend - guess what's parked on the side of the cabin in front of mine ..... a platinum XK8 convertible with Atlas wheels. However I have not chased after any one of them yet.
However - when I drive it on roadtrips - I have yet to encounter another XK8/XKR.

I had a real treat one day last summer when I pulled up next to a nicely kept/restored maroon XKE on the freeway and we drove side-by-side, tops down, for a bit. I then slipped in behind to let the legend have the place of honor. We even got thumbs up from some of the nearby drivers of lesser vehicles. Owning a Jag is cool stuff.

Sounds like a goldmine to me.
Well I don't anymore. I have it. When I want to stare, I just stare at my own.

There's a lady who lives in the neighborhood next to mine who drives a black convertible XK8. I've never seen her driving with the top down. She never notices me and my XK8. She just doesn't seem to understand how unusual her car is. I don't get it. When I see another I'm one of those guys who is trying to get the attention of the other driver so we can wave, or exchange knowing glances or something. I almost feel sorry for the drivers who don't realize that they are in a unique car.
