Default first time xk8 buyer

hello everyone,
I am frequently in the x type section because I own a 03 x. I have recently found a 2002 xk8 with very low miles for a really good price. I am really considering purchasing the car. I have been reading and know that the x types have been better with reliability wise 2003 and up but I dont know anything about the xk years. Are the 02's known to have alot of problems? I know that all jags have little quirks but I just want to know that im not stepping into a known problem. Thanks to all that reply.

No major issues. Just then chains, take care of it and it will be good car.

Default I have an 02 XKR 100

I bought it a year ago with 37K miles. It is an outstanding automobile. I've had to have a loose wire fixed in the dash that controlled the AC, but that's it. I bought an extended warranty that covers it until 100K miles.

The car is beautiful. In my opinion it looks better than the new XK. Almost everywhere I drive it I get complements. Especially on my 20 inch BBS wheels. Nobody believes they came from the factory like that.

Oh, and it will move!!!

you'll love an 02 xk8. It's in a totally different league than the x-typs, no offense to x-lovers. As long as you can accept the fact that the tensioner chains may need to be replaced, there aren't any major problems. If you could score a 2003 model, however, you don't have to worry about those questionable chains. Depends on how much of a 'really good price' you're talking about here. If it is considerable, i'd chance the purchase and start a small savings for those chains...just in case.
