Fixing the Crank on my XK8 as I change the head gaskets
As the title says I need to ensure I know where the crank is exactly, or fix it.
The engine is the AJ26 and I thought that there was a peg to lock the crank when the transmission sensor is removed.
However, what I find when I remove it, and the rubber plate next to is is a triangular arrow on the plate.
Now, I'm not complaining, this should do the job, but I was expecting something to peg and hold it.
Have I been reading about newer engines perhaps?

martinrichard, I read that you have bought the tool.
FYI for others who are interested, you can buy a complete Jaguar timing tool kit (that's how I searched for it) for less than $50 on eBay, including shipping. Some folks are selling the kit for 200 bucks, but I can't see what else you get for your extra bucks.
The kit includes (or should include) the plug(s - for AJ26 and AJ27, maybe others, you should confirm) to set the the torque converter drive plate (the tin pan with the funny shaped hole in it...), pins to hold the chain tensioners in place, plates to line up/time the camshafts, a tool to hold the cam chain sprockets in place, so you can remove and tighten them, and a special tool for doing something with the VVT that I avoided because I am afraid to touch the VVTs.
