Foil Cover? on Plenum?
While replacing my intercooler pump I noticed a silver foil covered hole on the underside of the plastic pipe that runs to the intake butterfly. Recently I saw a photo of the underside of someone elses pipe..no foil.
Any idea what it and what it does (aside from plug the hole?)

There was not any foil on my intake tube, and I do not recall there being a hole on the bottom either.
Does it look like the hole was made on purpose or is from some kind of damage?

I really don't know what the hole would be for.
The tube does run over the EGR and exhaust so maybe the foil is something that started on the later 4.2L cars...
Do you have a picture?

After some additional research, it seems that the Supercharged and Normally Aspirated Ducts are different.
It also appears that mine has a piece broken off and repaired.
New question is, "What's the broken bit of plastic DO?"
Rich
Missing, covered with a foil cover.

They are just noise reducers. The little extra bits of space damp resonant frequencies in the intake tube to make it quieter.
Sorry, I was trying to think of what port might be in the intake but it hadn't occurred to me that it might be one of those resonators broken off.
