Gentleman,
Just to clarify a few points. The timing belts did not break & are still within specs & usable. My friend like most is not mechanically inclined at all & did not realize what was happening & the damage that its causing.

Looks like its going to cost around 1100 for a complete head rebuilt including valve seats & head gaskets. That still leaves shipping the buckets.

What do you gentleman think?

The timing belts are chains. If you can get him going for that money, good for you (and him). While it's all apart, make sure the usual upgrades are done, and go to West Marine and get a high temp alarm for him so it won't happen again!

Yes, preferably one with Acme brand, cartoon hammer, that comes out and smacks him on the head

How much does it leave you with for labor? I assume your labor is extra, unless you are saint?

I am going to get compensated up to 600 depending on how much $ he has left over. That includes dealing with vendors & the shimming of the buckets later.

Do a chain tensioner upgrade, secondary (top) at least, upper and lower would be best if they haven't been done yet. Plenty in the forum for how-to's. Also replace the waterpump and thermostat if not already done.

I hope you are having the heads and block decked and having the cams inspected too.
