I followed the thread "p1722, no tranny shops gonna get all my money." Pretty much the same scenario as this poster. I was leaving my home car would not pull in drive. Scanner read p1722 fault . Pulled trans forward a drum cracked .Ordered new one from transmission & parts technology. Ordered new seals from eriksson industries. Print off zf trans manual from this forum. I kept internal parts in order & took pictures . Used the zip tie trick to aline clutch paks. Pretty tricky getting the drums lined up w/ paks. After several tries got them all back in. Once got the a/b drums back in the case did the measurement of approximately 20mm ( in zf manual ) . Once I returned trans in car she shifted normal. This probably would have been a little easyer with some assistance but I got it done. Thanks to this forum.

wow, mucho congrats! if you ever want to document the rebuild you did with pics, I'm pretty sure we don't have a detailed writeup for it. Parts links, prices, step by step, and you'll immortalize yourself in jaguarforum for all time.

There is nothing quite like doing your own. As you roll down the road, you know exactly what is inside.
