Default Front Coil Springs

When I got my XK it was sitting very low in the front (around 14.25" from wheel center to arch). I replace the upper mounts and lower shock bushing and it only gave me .5 at the most, still much too low according to OE specs and my eye. For now I put 2 rubber coil spacers in per side and car is sitting at 15-15.25" and looks OK, rides OK, but that is not a permanent solution.

I figure with new top mounts and lower bushings the only issue left is the coil springs. Car has 85k miles and I didn't think it would be likely for the springs to sag at this point (I have much older cars with original springs and no issues), but can't think of anything else that would be causing the low height.

That brings me to replacement springs. Car is a 2000 XKR Coupe and I could not find a listing for original springs available anywhere for this specific model and even if they were available the price is pretty high on OE springs. Are there any good aftermarket options out there that will give proper height? I went back and read a few posts about people buying springs and not being happy with the height, either too high or too low. I saw Lesjofors springs available, but couldn't find much info on them and they say convertible fitment only.

If anyone has used a reasonably priced replacement spring recently and it gave proper ride height I would love to know what you used. Thanks in advance.

Try Parts Geek www.partsgeek.com I think they have some. To be safe, verify they are for the Coupe. If memory serves, on my 2001 XK8 the convertible versions were stiffer.

Have you tried SNG Barrett?

are you sure the previous owner did not install lowering springs? DCR has replacement springs https://www.xk8-parts.com/2013/02/ja...s-range-coupe/

Parts Geek has the Lesjofors springs which I haven't heard anything bad about, but they also don't specify coupe/convertible anywhere. I might give them a shot. SNG Barrett has OE red springs for around $500 which is not terrible, but they don't specify fitment either and I know my car has yellow original springs currently.

Positive they are not lowering springs, but that did cross my mind before I had them out of the car. They are the original yellow stripe springs. The springs in your link are a great price, but they are red stripe. I'm pretty sure that is convertible only, but not 100% sure.

not sure on difference in stripe other than description said for coupe. Could always call or email to confirm fitment whether SNG or DCR. SNG is a forum sponsor and does offer a 10% discount - think most of the forum sponsors do. You could also check with Jagbits

XKR Coupe front spring: JLM20689.
Convertible front spring JLM20706 has red marking I believe.
I bought genuine front coil springs for my 2000 XKR convertible from SNG Barratt UK some four or five years ago, and my car ended up as far to high in the front. But after a couple of weeks it was perfect - and still is.

Thank you, first I've come across that part number. At nearly $1000/pair for genuine OE I'll be looking for another option.

If anyone has successfully used an aftermarket front spring set that didn't sag I'd be interested to hear about it.

I used Lesjofors for my spring swap. There's an umlaut over the first O but I don't know how to type that here. LOL My '03 convertible sits level if not just a little high at first. Only very little settling has occurred since May 2020. I'm good to go for the rest of my life. Not sure were I found them online, maybe Amazon. I did like the way the front looked in its lower position but it was too easy to scrap important things and the rear was normal. I didn't want to go through lowering the rear to match. Rides nice. TM

We purchased Suplex Brand springs Part # (13041) for Front of the 2003 XK8 Coupe several years ago. They have been great and no droop. There was a vendor on E-Bay then for Suplex and overall experience was very good. Suplex is a German Tier 1 Supplier worldwide and a source as Lesjofors is also. Our springs came from UK by FED-X.

Interesting, thank you both. In reading previous threads it seemed that Suplex was prone to sagging and a lot of people were not happy, but nice to hear they worked for you. Maybe they fixed the issue?

Lesjofors is an interesting option also, they are cheap ($180/pair), but haven't heard much about them. The fact that they sit level on your convertible is nice, but they only make one part number for our cars and I wonder if that would cause the coupe to sit a bit high? Although with the heavier supercharged engine they may be just what I'm looking for...

What did you decide on the springs? I'm also looking at spring replacements and can't make complete sense of the options out there. Lesjofors seems to have two part numbers, 4041409 for coupe and 4041408 for convertible, but both show as being for XK8, no mention of XKR. The OEM JLM20706 part number seems to be for both models so one could guess it applies to aftermarket too, but I'm not 100% there yet.
Has the community confirmed that the front springs are the same for XK8 and XKR?

I haven't done anything with the front springs yet, the rubber spring spacers have been doing their job remarkably well so I've left them for the past few months. I will hopefully get around to new springs over the winter, but same as you never really got clarification on what will work properly and hot be too high or too low. Seems to be a lot of issues with the aftermarket springs out there.
