Default Front Overriders (or whatever they may be called)

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to remove the two black overriders from the 2002 XKR?

I got rid of mine and put on the Mina grill. But I can’t say it was easy.

it took some awkward work with my Dremel cut off wheels to cut thru some rivets holding the under lying metal structure.

Yeah, they're not just plastic doodads, there's two honking great bits of aluminum under there you need to remove. A grinder would be your friend there. You have to remove the bumper cover. I mean you can try and do it with the bumper cover on, but honestly its easier and safer to remove the bumper cover.

The Mina grille annoyed me, i didn't like how it looked proud of the bumper aperture and the need to drill the bumper to fit it. I haven't got around to making a bracket to mount it behind the bumper cover like the OEM grille. I put the OEM one back on. Some day.

Its not really hard, but it is not trivial for sure. This pic shows what you are up against.

Thanks guys for the input, the main reason for wanting to remove the overriders is so that I can restore them, repaint, and then put them back on (without the holes and scratches). As removing them now appears like a fair amount of work I think I might just undertake the repair work while they are in situe.
Many thanks for the comments.

those big aluminum doo-dads were a bear to get off using the Dremel. But they had to go in order to get the Mina grill inset sufficiently.

But sufficient is a subjective determination.

I do not know what you think is a fair amount of work, but you "just" have to remove the bumper cover then the plastic overriders are easy to take off. It is the aluminium bars behind them that can be difficult
