Front Spring Squeak
my 97 xk8 has developed a good squeak from the front pass wheel area. It sounds like a big ole spring in a bed that makes noise when you are, ahhh, ya know, making relations, only this squeak is on a car scale. All winter in the cold it has not been doing this but now it is. Can this be OILED???
well the sqeak went on for months. Got my shop to look at it and they thought it was the strut. Well picked some up from a member here, got them in the mail yesterday. Today wife is driving and hears a loud pop and no more squeak!!! ODD
Hey Tim,
When I first replaced my control arms I had jaguar do the alignment, it wasn't making noise before I took it in, but after the alignment I had a popping noise coming from the passenger side.
I then replaced the shocks and found the passenger side was bad (when you collapsed it, fluid shot out because the seal went). Then had it realigned at a local alignment shop and all was good again. Not sure if the noise you were hearing was actually the spring or the shock just going.
Hope This Helps

all I know is that the sqeak is gone and the car handles and rides like it always has even when it was sqeaking. The pop the wife heard, who knows. She is not the best at describing noises from a car. I am going to jack it up this weekend and look for any things that don't look right, rubber gone, bushings that look funny.
I don't know.
I have a 96 Tbird, this past winter on real cold nights the back shocks would give out and the rear would sit real low. You could feel every crack in the road, she road like it had no suspension, hard as hell. Once it warmed to 40 or so it went away and road fine and still does today. Explain that one!!!!
