I bought a set from phobman mainly because I couldn't leave my car on the lift several days while waiting for mine to be repaired. They fit into my old casings very well with no side play at all in the center section. My car is now at original height, shock stems are centered and ride is great. I am very pleased with mine. Time will tell how long they will last. The material he used seems to be extremely tough.
I am very happy.

At what point are they expected to fail? Mine has 118000 km and I do not see an issue. Should I buy a set pre-emtivly? For a 25 yr old car, has surprisingly few issues. The current mounts are sort of orange in colour, pliable and centred.

My factory front spring mounts had 34000miles or so when I changed them and they have been worn out for quite a while. Some say the Euro mounts only last a few thousand miles. Haven't used them myself.
The ones the guys on this fourm rebuild, I have never heard of anyone having trouble with them.

There are two problems associated with he originals, one you can see, the other you cannot see. The one you can see is the top mount, and the original mounts last quite a long time. The one you can't see is the spring isolator, the big donut that is between the spring and the housing. This one is under a lot more load and slowly crumbles to dust lowering the front of the cars height, and rubbing metal on metal. The aftermarket products have been a dismal attempt at fixing the problem

Just installed the first side of two of Phobman’s kit, and I can say I am very, very happy with the results! I had a question during installation and Peter responded to me MUCH faster than I had expected, clearing up any confusion. Great job, Peter! I can’t wait to get the other side together( after the car show this weekend lol!)
my only suggestion (and it’s ONLY a suggestion) would be to include a printed version of your first few posts of this thread as instructions with every kit, or a printed link to this thread for instructions. Either way I am very happy with it!!

I installed Phobman's mounts on my 2005 XK8 early this spring and am very happy with them. The reason I went this route is because I had little time to use lift and needed to get it done quickly and this fit the bill for me.

I fully understand the situation and have shaped my parts to accommodate, 130 users and not one complaint, only praise, including John Dee " To the garage" who thinks these parts are wonderful, and Adamesh UK, who stocks these parts!

I did both sides of my front upper mounts with phobmans kit and I can attest the difference is night and day. Easy to do once everything is out, follow his simple instructions at beginning of post and you
will be just as pleased as I am. I did new shocks, mounts(phobmans kit), all bushings for upper and lower wishbones, all ball joints, hub bearings, tie rod ends, sway bar links and bushings, and my front end is so smooth I couldn’t be happier. This kit is no joke. I just got a set of poly bushings for rear upper mounts and the bushings on the rear shocks, very similar to phobmans kit for front but more costly….will be installing soon

You may not be aware, or you may be aware and not concerned, but many forum members know how well the concept works, have known since it's inception way back in 2021 when it was developed by a number of members here and subsequently distributed in kit form.

By the time this particular thread showcased the "discovery" of the very same concept, the system had already been fitted and proven on countless X100's across the globe for more than 2 years.

Our XKR needs this exact front-end refresh soon and I wanted to see if you had list or spreadsheet of the parts/prices/sources you used for this.

I maintain spreadsheets like this for one of our other vehicles that requires significantly more repairs/upgrades than the XKR in order to assist others going down the same path.

And I've learned interesting things. For example, I was surprised to discover that, while the basic engine rebuild parts for my VW camper van totaled less than $1K, I easily spent ~2-3x that on engine performance & robustness upgrades.

I sourced parts from eBay, parts geek, rock auto, and other websites. I don’t have a list exactly of what came from where per se…. I just made a list of all parts needed, and started searching. Made carts at different websites to compare pricing and bought from multiple sources. Also to note, I went by the part number listings found in the sticky’s here, which I printed out and three hole punched and put in a binder, very good source of info as part numbers varied depending on vin number and also things were superseded through the years

Baxtor, yes I am aware these kits have been around for a few years, I was just commenting on how pleased I am with Peter’s kit. I’m also aware you make a similar kit, and if had I purchased yours and was pleased with it, I would have said the same for you.
No need to be condescending stating that I may be aware but don’t care that this technology has been around since 2021, which I’m assuming is when you created your kit, just because I didn’t purchase your kit. don’t assume I don’t care, quite frankly don’t assume anything about me. Assumption is the mother of all f—-ups. It only
makes an “***” out of “u” and “me”.
