Default Fuel cleaners/additives

For the last several cars I have owned (all of which had fuel injection), I got in the habit of adding a can of fuel injector cleaner or fuel system cleaner or octane booster every now and again. Do any of you folks do this and is it okay or something that should be avoided with Jaguars?

Thanks,

Doug

I ditto Gus. BG 44K is the best I have found and it has worked for me every time. It is expensive, but if you are vigilant, you can get a good price on ebay. I just bought 6 cans for $50.

Would you use the BG Fuel Injection System Cleaner (part no. 210) in conjunction with the BG 44k (part no. 208)? Or is just using the BG 44k enough to clean out the fuel system?

Say Gus, the mileage on your vehicles is impressive. I would like my 2005 XKR to make it too 100,000 (+) miles. What do you recommend as the most key factors to reaching that goal.

Appreciate your thoughts on the subject.

Thank You! I change the oil every 3,000 mi, I fix what is broken, I add BG 44K about every 6mo, I check the obvious and drive the hxxx out of it. I run it hard and we take it everywhere. This car loves to be driven! The most important part of what I do is check many chat rooms to see the problems other people have and use what I learn and be proactive. My being proactive came from working on aircraft, no room for error. I have never replaced the trans fluid but plan to do so this spring. The expression “If it aint broke don’t fix” it is true. However, examine it and make sure.

Thanks Gus, sage advice! I'm there on proactive maintenance also and keeping the engine bay clean as well. I will give the BG44K a try. You are right about the driving experience. These XKs are all about cruising down the road...rain or shine. Enjoy the road ahead.

Regards

Thanks for the info. I was not familiar with the BG 44K stuff but will look for it in my local Pep Boys or AutoZone.

You can get it at most dealerships or high end repair shops. E-bay is an option as well as www.motorcarsltd.com
