Having an issue with my fuel filler cover. Basically it won't openunless you use a small lever when the latch is activated (latch etc is fine). I suspect there is a spring or something in the flap that has failed but can't see one.
Lubricate the fuel filler door latch pin assembly with white lithium grease. If you keep the assembly well-greased, you generally do not have any issues with the fuel filler door. I try to remember to lube it every two to three months....
Thanks for your reply. Latch is fine. Moves freely and releases the door. Usually the door springs open slightly clear of the latch but is not doing that anymore and so when you press the button the latch releases but as the door stays where it is it relatches again.
I'm pretty sure there must be a spring in the hinge somewhere that pushes the door out and I suspect mine has broken. No idea where it would be though
Open the fuel filler door fully and lock forward at the hinge, you should see two circular shaped "springs" that push on the hinge to open the door. If they are intact, spray som WD40 on the hinge and move it back and forth till it moves freely.
