fuel leak fuel pressure regulator 99xk8
Hi all:
Was getting a bad gas smell. I noticed the car was cranking over longer than usual before starting. Popped the hood and low and behold there was a spray of gas coming out around the pressure regulator. I notice there are two o rings inside it . Has anyone ever had a leak here ?????. And if so any ideas where a good place to buy it. ???? This is a 99 with a mechanical regulator

fix kinda
Just an update. Managed to secure some o rings, not quite the right thickness so I doubled up on both of them. Fuel leak stopped. Need to obtain the correct ones but at least I am not spraying fuel on the engine !! Funny thing is the o rings on it were in good shape. What I did notice was that the metal tab that secures the regulator did not seem to do a good job and was not really holding the regulator in as tightly as I would think. (ie compressing the o rings slightly ) Anyway will update when I get the proper ones. Tks for the advice. I did learn alot about these regulators and they can leak some fuel out through the vacuum line in the back if there faulty. My fuel was spraying from around the sides.

I ran into the exact same problem on my '99 XK8 during a 2000 miles road trip. It was a Sunday and I was about 300 miles from home. Naturally, this part wasn't carried in any of the local auto parts store. Fortuanely, I search the forum and found this thread. Saved me a lot of pain and suffering... $1.25 and two o-rings later and I was back on the road. I'm currently shopping for an all new regulator, though.
Also, I had been getting a P0455 code often (large leak in teh evap emissions system). I had just been clearing the code whenever the Check Eng light came on, with the intent of digging into the problem when I got home. Since the O-ring fix, I haven't had the code pop up again. Any thoughts about whether a semi-leaky fuel pressure regulator could cause the P0455 code?
PS: OK, I actually spent $14 at the auto parts store to fix this. $1.25 for the parts, and the rest to buy a magnet-on-a-stick to retrieve the socket extension that I accidentally dropped into the dark recesses of the engine bay.

Thanks for the help. As it turns out, my FPR is located on the US passenger side, at the end of the rail closest to the firewall. The schrader valve is on the opposite end, on the opposite side of the car. I'm guessing they changed things tremendously from year to year?
I cannot believe the parts places want around $200 for this. Ridiculous. Should be no more than $40.
