Lightbulb Fuel level sending unit

Hello anyone know where my Sending unit is on my 2002 XK8 coupe, not convertible? I see many posts showing it on the back of the gas tank under the carpet protector. Not there on my 2002 X100 XK8. Others say you have to take off the gas tank, but others say you can go thru the rear back subwoofer hole. I have the intermittent fuel gauge problem showing no fuel and gas light coming on then it will be just fine other times. So annoying. I would like to fix this problem, but cannot find proper instructions or know where it is? This is my gas tank and fuel pump area. Thanks to anyone who can properly help.

Wait,,, I'm a little confused, but what's new...?

I would suggest cleaning allllll of the connectors you see (the ones in the pictures) up top before digging into the tank. If that doesn't help,,,,,

The sending unit is INSIDE the tank. You're warm, hot actually, you FOUND it. Is under and connected to the unit you are photographing...

Do I have to warn about sparks, flames, things that make gas get excited???

You'll see a large TABBED ring holding that STUFF you've photographed in place. You'll need a small hammer and a large flat head screw driver. Choose one of the TABS on the ring and tap on it with hammer and screwdriver head until the locking ring spins. >>>>> Actually,,, before all that, remove all plugs and hoses that you see connected to the stuff on top O the tank... All of them will fight you a bit. I suggest pinching the rubber on the hoses with needle nose pliers or something around the area they come into contact with the steel tubing,,,, just to free them up a bit. After the wrestling with the connections/little hoses, remove that blue plastic stuff housing/cover you see after freeing it up... Now comes the fun part... And forget gloves! Hope you have an empty tank...

Reach you hand and forearm in there and pay CLOSE attention to what you are FEELING! The fuel pump assembly and it's housing assembly contains the workings for the level sender...the pumps and it's hoses...etc you'll have to remove it and carefully pull it up through that hole that you created by removing the cover in your photos... Again,,, pay careful careful attention to what you are FEELING while digging it out as you are going to have to replace everything by feel, mostly. It's not hard,,, but made MUCH easier if you've payed attention at taking it apart. Lol,,, I'm much much better at the take apart stage 🤣
I've looked and can't find a good image. Hopefully someone will chime in with the exact make up of the fuel assembly on the xk8 2002. I have dug around in my 2004 more than I would like to admit, but never on my 2002 convertible...

The LATER fuel tanks have the PUMP(S) AND SENDER UNIT completely inside the tank!!

The earlier units with the sender mounted to the rear of the tank ended with the introduction of the 2001MY North American X100/X308.
