Default Fuel Level sensor problem on my2000 XKR

The fuel level gauge of my XKR have problem, the indicator pointer will drop to bottom suddenly when the fuel tank is about half . The problem is confirmed to be bad contact of the Fuel Level sensor. I tried repair it DIY as I cannot find it in local shop. Below was what I did. Before job start, please make sure the tank is close to empty, or empty it first before you do anything. And the Battery terminal should be disconnected to avoid any possible spark.
