Fuel pump
Hello, haven't posted in awhile, put my car away for the winter, 2001 with 39,000 miles, had starting problems last fall, went to start last month and wouldn't, told it maybe flooding and fouled plugs, changed plugs, still would not start, finally had it towed to the dealer, they said it was a the fuel pump, question, the dealer wants $725.00 parts and labor is that reasonable seemd like alot......yes I know it is not a Chevy. thanks Mike

RE: Fuel pump
There has been some conversation about the electrical connector to the pump corrodingand frying itself rather than the pump actually failing. Based on the repair documentation on my car that apparently was what happened, fortunately, under warranty. The dealer replaced the pump, then replaced the connector.
Guess the dealer has your car at the moment. At least you could ask them to check the connector before pulling the pump.

RE: Fuel pump
Thanks guys for the reply, looks like the dealer is in the ball park on this one. Did not mention that my ABS light was blinking on and off then was staying on, they checked that and stated the system may or may not be working all of the time and suggested I need a new module....$2800.00 wow, how serious is this, I am going to hold off for now, is there another way to go or am I stuck, can I buy this on my own and install it or can only the dealer do it, I love this car but it is getting expensive. thanks Mike

RE: Fuel pump
Do a search on this and other forums regarding the ABS. Lots of posts about the right front sensor wiring causing intermittent problems due to strain when turning. Also clean toothed gear on each wheel and the sensors themselves.
Problem could still be the module but that would be the last thing I would try.
