Fuel Pump made me drop rear subframe
So the fuel pump left momma stranded on the side of the road. 2003 XK8 Convertible. Couldn't reach the fuel disconnect on the bottom of the tank so I loosened the fuel line from the hold downs and wiggled the tank out far enough to get the pump out and in. Once replaced I had a leak. Guess where. Directly above the differential. My fault for kinking the tubing. No choice but to pull the rear suspension subframe. Not as a bad as expected with a trolley jack and mommas help. Now I'm sourcing a new fuel line from tank to filter.
Here's the question: Why do I need to remove and discard the mounting bolts? They look ok. Had thread lock red on them. JTIS says to replace. Can't figure out why. Are they stretched? Won't get accurate torque with the thread lock remnants? Inquiring minds want to know.
