Red face fuel pump relay question

To Start,
This forum is the best.! I have learned a whole bunch of things about my 2000 XKR convertible and appreciate the knowledge and members on this site.
So, I have just finished changing the 2 fuel pumps in my jaguar. I did some trouble shooting and determined they both were on the non op side of life. Changed the pumps and the car started as its supposed to....took out my obII scanner and got a message that one of the pump relays had failed...
I proceeded by clearing the message, waiting for the fuel press to dissapate, pulled one of the relay's, started the car. Let it run for 5-7 min. I figured that should be an indication the pump is doing its job and that relay is working. Did the same for the other relay, car ran fine for 5-7 min. Am I correct in thinking the relays are fine, I know the pumps are new, so they should not be a concern. Just trying to confirm that my thinking is sound.
Thanks for any responses.

What code did you get for the fuel pump?
I had a bogus fuel pump code on my 2002 XKR (P1646). I determined that the manual was wrong and that the code was actually for an upstream oxygen sensor. See here:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...d-dtcs-276088/

If it IS an O2 sensor, that thread will also show you the "easy" way to get at them, as they are in a $%^& of a location. But you just did the fuel pumps, so this is relatively easy lol.
The diagnostic manual includes extensive procedure for testing the circuit, relays etc for fuel pumps and O2 sensors.
A way to diagnose is just pull the fuel pump relays one at a time in turn (pull one, start, stop, replace relay, pull two, start, stop replace relay), and start the car each time. You should also get a restricted performance message when running on one pump.

Default fuel pump change

I did get the restricted performance message when I removed the #1 pump relay,,,,thanks for confirming that.....my brain always assumes the worst when you see something your not expecting....
I did not get a code when I looked at the relay message on my Icarsoft scanner....I was in the diagnostic mode and it just told me of the problem.....
I believe the car is doing fine....I will be taking it for a spin or two in the near future to let it reset all the parameters.
thanks for your input.
