Default Full wood set for under $200

Just thought I would pass this along (No affiliation with the seller). http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XK8-X...175022222#shId

My customers for the nav to 3-gauge conversion are often looking for a full matching wood set. Here is a dark one for under $200. These matching sets usually go for around $500.

The scratches on the airbag panel look like they can be largely buffed out.

That's about average for a wood set in the UK (the seller is in Derbyshire).

At around $500 for a set, you all certainly have to pay dearly for spares in the US.

Thanks for the Post and heads-up...

If you see one like this for LHD let me know. I have a 2001 where the Wood has 'faded' because of the Factory problem they had with that year (the Wood Stain out-gassed). Additionally, I changed from the Nav System to the 3 Gauge, another reason why to get new wood.

Problem is that the Salvage Yards in the US part out the wood pieces bit by bit. No matched sets.

I did buy a complete set pre-2001 off of E-Bay, where the Air Bag had blown. That wasn't much of a problem, just had to get it refinished.

However, the pre-2001 set does not have the Air Bag Light in the bottom left corner of that Panel. So I decided not to use it.

So I am still looking. If anyone sees a full matched set with the Air Bag Light and 3 gauge, let me know. I would be interested...

I was going to buy it as a spare set when I saw the first photo as it looked really dark, like piano black, but in the second photo it kind of lost its appeal...

Has anyone looked into refinishing their own set? It appears this company Automotive Wood Restoration is very experienced. Anyone have history they could share?

P.S. Bill: It is unfortunate the owner of your XK8 did not address the issue with Jaguar while the car was under warranty. My 01 XJR had the same issue and it was remedied under warranty. In fact they gave me a loaner set while they sent mine out for refinishing. It seemed to be such a standard practice that year that the dealer had the loaner set ready to go.
