Default FYI: 2 R17 tires will fit in cockpit

Today I had to find someone else to install 2 of the continental extreme contact tires.

Put the roof down, tires in plastic bag, and they fit in the back seat with passenger seat tilted fwd.

This is just a quick FYI to file away. someone may try to look this up someday.

BTW, they are too big to fit in trunk area above the spare.

John

In the early 1980s my wife drove a 1982 Fiat Spyder convertible. It's pretend back seat was slightly larger than our XK8/XKR pretend back seats. We went out to eat one nice-weather October Friday night in her car with the top down. After dinner she wanted to go next door to a furniture outlet store to see what they had on sale. She found a small loveseat (basically a compact two-person sofa) that she really liked for a bargain price so she bought it on the spot. We were twenty miles from home in her Spyder and I was not about to pay the store for delivery, nor did I want to come back the next day in my Jeep Cherokee. So while my wife drove us home, I wedged myself lengthwise into the back seat and held that loveseat upside-down perpendicular to the car so if any loveseat surface accidently touched the car, it would be a fabric-covered surface....

We got quite a few whistles and shouts from other drivers on the trip home that night. I remember my shoulders getting quite fatigued but I was not about to allow that damn loveseat to scratch or dent the car's paintwork. I think it weighed about 250 pounds which was just about what I weighed as well. We made it home without a scratch, and I made a mental note to never allow her to go furniture-shopping in that car again....

I'll bet there wasn't much call for the loveseat when you arrived home after that trip.

I've easily managed 4 x tyres in my coupe (245/45/18 XL)

As put winter tyres on in Dec, remove in March, my local tyre place charges me £40 to do the job

Natch they go into black bags first as don't want them ruining my leather
