Gap under headlight
Helloooo,
Just replaced both headlight reflectors . The black rubber seal that goes around the glass, that seals against the bodywork does not go all the way around. Theres a gap about 200mm long x 5mm in height under the glass where it sits above the bumper, so rain/road-dirt could be pushed into the wing under the headlight unit (water/condensation in headlight??). Checked the old units and they are the same, so that looks how it's designed. Does anyone know why they're fitted like that? and would it matter if I sealed it?

I had mine apart last summer and thought it was an error by whoever painted the bumper before I bought the car, so I made a filler using vacuum hose. I have only driven in the rain twice since then, but have seen no negative effect compared to the other side.
Thank's RJ237, I have some soft rubber hose about 6mm dia that I thought I'd glue in place and the set the headlights down onto it and fill the gap. Just cannot undrestand why it's designed like that. Still, there's lots of odd things like that on XK's, guess that's why we love 'em!

Or was this on purpose for some reason?
