a Gatorback 4080515 is thinner
Then the belt that is on the vehicle now.... What gives,,,
The Gatorback 4080515 is $21.00 from the auto parts store BUT DOES NOT MATCH UP the belt that is on the car now.... Much Thinner...
I will have the other belt off the car tomorrow (to check the part number) but I wanted the belt in hand before,,,, From Jaguar the belt is $171.00 ??? and I am replacing the Serpintine belt as well and that is $113.00 from Jaguar... which I did not match up from the auto parts store ($100.00)
What Gives???

"It's all relative to the S&P @1358!"
A great number and yes It is ALL RELATIVE,,, to most...
I might like a postion for 10 seconds 10 minutes 10 days or 10 months but hardly every project farther then that,,,,
Too many opportunities in between....
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE THINNING MARGINS ON MY SC BELT?????

Am using the Gates micro-V belts for years now, these are high quality ones.
For the 4.0 engine you can use this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Gates-K080514-.../dp/B001C9G3MM
KenneBell (manufacturer of twin-screw kits) is pretty adamant not to use the goodyears (/cog type belts).

I have no experience with the gator belts, so can't comment on the width.
The lenght of the belt is for a 4.0 (Sorry should have checked the car you have, I know only went for the lenght you have choosen), so I think you have the wrong one anyhow.
You would need the Gates K080525 for the 4.2.

So here is the DEAL... The previous owner had the Pulleys Upgraded with the latest generation Jaguar upgrade,,, So we had 3 different belts brought to the shop and all were as wide as the Gatorback,,, which is thinner then the belt on the car...
Removed the belt and it is a Jaguar specific belt. Jag sent up both belts, the SC and the SERP,,,, Perfect match. So I went with the wider Jaguar SC belt for $171.00 and their SERP belt as well...
Also needed a idler pulley,,, 1st one to the left of the supercharger pulley,,, Jaguar price $208.00 is there a Ford cross reference part number???

May I ask what was wrong with the double sided belt you had? As it could only be a relativly new one, and I would be surprised if that one was worn, unless something else is not ok.
Why do you need a new idler pulley? If the bearing is worn, you can press it out and replace it yourselve, these are generic ones easily to be had for 3 or 4$ (instead of $207).

The Previous owner 3yrs and 3,100 miles said that he replaced the pulleys and the belts,,, when he first got the vehicle... I checked the service records and sure enough he had Jaguar install the pulleys and belts @ 20,540 miles also had them do a 30,000 mile service because of time,,, 10/13/2008,,, then a 40,000 service @ 22,000 miles because of time 09/15/2011... Car sat a lot,,, Fast forward to today,,, I bought the car 11/11/2011 22,400 miles today it had 27,750 miles and the belt was chirping,,, Took it apart and the belts were showing some glazing and minor thread exposure on the sides,,, Looked dry,,, but no cracks... top left Idler pulley was showing signs of wobble,,, slight but enough to warrant replacing...
The belts were wider then all that I had sent to the shop and the pulley was a last minute notice... I did not realize that you could press in new bearings, Actually never thought of it... I will save the old one because this looks like a frequent maintenance issue...
+$200.00 for a pulley is ridiculous... but I expect it from time to time on a car like this... if I can get new bearings for the pulley,,, It will never sting me again on that part...
Thanks AVOS I always appreciate the insight
