Default Gearbox conversions, as of 2016

Hi,

Racing Green Cars in the UK used to propose a GB sequential shifting kit for X100s (+ and - buttons on the steering wheel + dash mounted speed indicator). See here if you don’t know this already :

RACING GREEN CARS | Jaguar XK8/XKR 1996-2006

Unfortunately, the have stopped producing that kit, and as the guy who was in charge of it left the company, they’re making clear that this is not likely to come up again from them.

Has anybody heard about another similar conversion provider ? I enquired from several racing shops that are routinely proposing shifting control kits for 5HP24s but only in a racing context, with a stand alone engine management. None of them would venture into the GB + engine combined management that’s required of a proper smooth street use.

In the same vein, any recent endeavors on the manual GB conversion front ?

Many thanks !

Hi DaimlerMK2, could you be more specific please ? I know the thing has been done at least twice (with a T56), but I'm not aware of anybody offering a conversion as of today.

Hi,
Thanks for the answers. Angus, great to know that a kit is now available for a manual GB. But it isn't cheap (which I can understand). And getting the car road legal might be tough here in France.
DaimlerMK2, doing a little bit of research on the forum I saw your project. Wonderful and much more involved than what I would embark in ! Again, if you have more specific info or point to where on the forum you may have already discussed the matter, that would be nice. What about the bell housing for example ?

Back to my first question which was more modestly to update the existing ZF to sequential capability, nobody's having a more or less "off the shelf" solution nowadays ?

£7500 seems like an absolute fortune for a 6 spd conversion just a thought but i would be more inclined to bolt up the 8 spd zf gearbox out of the F-Type

Did you manage to complete the manual swap with the gearbox from the 2.7d onto the 4.2? I was thinking about whether this would be possible with a custom flywheel and adapter on my STR .
