Use this link and go down to issue2 in it you will find a link to Training Manual 201 and go to lesson 4 page 68. It has the pinout and readings for testing the transmission valvebody. If you have any questions let me know.

Check your PM.

thanks Gus - drove down to the indie since the tranny rebuild is just coming out of the rebuild warranty period. I hadn't driven since the initial code Saturday and she drove like a champ - no issues until 3 blocks from the shop - stopped at red light and gearbox fault popped in, ran diags P1747. Indie checked resistance for PR3 sensor was at 7ohm, did a hard reset and 1747 immediately came back - so the issue appears when engine is warm.

Suspect tcm or in the valve body. rebuild shop wants to look at and will make recommendations. If tcm - I will send off to ASI. In the interim time to find a secondary vehicle.

The TCU can be checked by ASI and they can make repairs. As for the valvebody the 7ohm’s fall in to the good range. Where did you test it from? I tested mine from the TCM plug to be sure it was not in the harness to the transmission.

When they rebuilt the trans did they rebuild the throttlebody?

I believe the check was done at TCM plug - just emailed shop to confirm. As for rebuild of throttle body - doubt very much they did - nothing on the invoice to reflect this.

I did it! Use my link to my transmission issue and take a look at the TSB link on the valvebody and how I did it. However, if your trans was under warranty should they be looking at it for you? If you elect to do it know what you are getting in to. I have a shop and a lift you I will assume will be on the ground on your back. The most difficult part is getting started.. You know how to reach me.

Thanks Gus - yeah your number is programmed into my phone (greatly appreciate your willingness to assist). it just came off of the warranty period so they said they will look at it. Although I don't expect them to cover the repairs, I do believe they will give some break. If not, then I will consider all options.

How many miles on the rebuilt transmission (I assume it is a ZF 5HP24)? And how long has it been installed?

Jon - a little over 33000 miles on the rebuild - yes 5HP24. Complete rebuild was June 2014 with 2 year 24K mile warranty but went back a few months later due to gear box fault - isolated to internal cable harness which they replaced.

I don't expect them to replace under warranty but I certainly didn't expect it to fail with so little mileage. Hopefully they will discount the repairs some

Yes, let's hope these guys step up to the plate for you. Just 33,000 miles before a serious failure is very disappointing indeed....

While I'm certainly no cheerleader for the ZF 6HP26 units in our two Jaguars, I do think that they are considerably more robust than the 5HP24....

still waiting on pics but just got off the phone with shop - torque converter failed so they need to replace it and valve body - estimate is $3760 to flush the unit, install new torque converter and a "used valve body" . Trying to get them to adjust price some

I paid far less than that and it included shipping and the core from Eriksson Ind. I would give them a call..
