Default Good Old ABS/Traction Control Light

I've driven hundreds of miles this spring without the intermitten warning popping up until a brief trip yesterday. The light turned off after I stopped for gas. Will a standard OBD reader give me a worthwhile code to find the cause. It's not the clean sensors or a dirty throttle body. The warning popped up intermittenly last year. There's no pattern to the issue, which appears to be the common theme on other posts.

How are your rear wheel bearings? If you looked at my thread regarding my transmission issue ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ut-gear-54443/ ) it turned out to be a wheed speed sensor issue.

The bottom line is that I think a rear wheel bearing being loose allowed some movement. That let the tone ring that the wheel speed sensor reads break loose from the hub and not always spin at the same speed as the wheel.

This post should help in understanding and correcting the problem on ABS. I will also add a link that should help in troubleshooting your ABS system.

I found that most of my electrical problems were related to poor connections. I clean every plug I come across with CRC contact cleaner and install a little Di-electric grease and that seems to help.

Hope this helps!

and no, a general OBDiI scanner will not tell you what is happening with the ABs/traction control. if you do find a code for a 'hydraulic pump' failure, this has often led to the ABS module being bad, and needs rebuilt.

This is of course after checking wiring harnesses and connectors to the wheel sensors.
