Unhappy GPS Navigation DVD discs

I have a 2005 XKR Jaguar Convertible with an Alpine navigation system but no disc...does anyone know where I can get one for Canada? Doesn't have to be a recent one, just anything that can get me out of a jam if I'm outside my area.

You can usually find them on ebay.

They don't guarantee that they work in a 2005 so I don't want to risk spending the money unless I know for sure it's going to work in the Alpine System

Well I am looking for the same thing for my 2003 XJ (UK model year = 2004 US). I typed in "Jaguar satellite navigation DVD" and found the official Jag site that then directed you to another site with a list of models and then areas with prices. The XJ was listed as 2004 on, so I assume their's would fit, but you will pay quite a lot, but it should then work on your car. Company is called Navtech. Obviously they are on eBay cheaper.

IIRC, the XJ nav systems changed to Denso at about MY 2004, the XKs continued to use the Alpine units until 2007. Alpine - BM9JU91F, that is the last one. There's a thread somewhere around here that shows the progression of these discs and their corresponding part numbers. Latest update was dated 2005 (with 2004 maps most likely) I think, from memory.

It'll work if you get the alpine disc, don't worry about that, unless you think the DVD unit is not working, then it'll be a $200 coaster if you find a used one.

Default Canada GPS Maps

If you are looking for "Canada" maps, don't spend a lot of money. The latest Alpine disc (2002 US/Can) has only 5 provinces, nothing east of Ontario. No map of Winnipeg, major highways only. If you live in Vancouver you are OK. H20 Boy, gave me his backup copy and that's all that was on it. cheers, bob

I'm using a backup of the latest GPS version, I'm in Vancouver, BC and it works fine except for occasional disk read errors as I understand is common with burnt copies, but I can live with that. No special "Canadian" copy, just fyi. Also, I have a legitimate older 02 version map cd and BC is not included.

The latest navteg disc is 2010-11 which is what I purchased from their web site. I originally had trouble loading it but with some help from this forum (check past postes) It works fine. There are two discs one for eastern states and Canada and one for western states and Canada. I live north of Vancouver on the Sunshine Coast and all the roads are marked.

Default GPS Navigation DVD Discs - XKR 2005

How do I remove my DVD Navigation disc from the Navigation DVD player in the boot? I have pressed the small indentation area and the middle and it will not open. When I turn on the car the screen reads:

Error reading DVD-ROM DISC.
Please check the DISC

Ultimately it turns on after driving for a few miles.

Strange. Any idea what is the problem?
