do you have preimium sound ? (amp) what happens when you install the old ones?

 

If your getting no bass it is probably the amp. Did you check to make sure you had the equilizer set to give you bass tho??

 

lso I think there is a switch on the radio for premium and non. On back of radio.

 

Check thespeaker wires from the subs tothe ampnext ... then the amp itself ... would think one of those two things will be the culprit.

If not, then check thecrossover (I don't know the OEM system, but if your speakers are supposed to be subs only it should have one someplace)... then the line level cables ... then the audio outs on the head unit.

In short, start at the speakers and work your way back until you find the cause. Distortion in subs can be a little trickier to find, because poor enclosure design can also cause it. Am throwing that out as a cause here, because you would think the OEM system would have gotten that part right to start with and the replacements are new.

 

I would be more inclined to say that the subs need either a better enclosure, or more likely a stronger amp to push them.

 

One more question, got your bass at +1, but what is your subwoofer volume set at?

When i had my 6.5s replaced w/JLs, the guys said the enclosure was pretty flimsy, but even before the 'retrofitting' of the enclosure, it still hit pretty good.

Just keep going thru the MODE options...Navi Audio...Bass...Treble...Balance...S.W Level

Just dial it in. If that option is not there, there is another problem you have (like incorrect amplifier or something henky!)

Also, amp is in the trunk/boot, to the right above the rear wheel behind the carpet. Just tug down from the top, and you will see it. You won't tear anything when you go exploring.

 

If it is truly the 'premium' system, this should be there. I did read about the switch in the back of the radio chassis as FJT said. Want to check it out?

It has to be, it must. Have no fear, if you really want premium sound and features, my deck and amplifier are about to pulled from my car. Should be available week of the 19th if you want to try a swap-out. Same as you, components in the front and subs in the enclosures in the rear. PM me if you are interested.
