Default Has anyone fitted parrots UNIKA to an xk8

I'm thinking of selling my Jvc kd-avx77 and reverting to the origonal headunit and look.

But with a parrot mki9000 (no screen).

The clincher would be getting the system to work with the steering wheel controls. The additional piece of parrot kit to do this is a UNIKA.

My simple question is has anyone got it to work on one of our cars?

thanks

Thanks for the response Nobby.

Does it allow you to switch the steering wheel controls between the parrot and the car sterio?

thanks

I am also interested in.
Are there any surprises during installation.
Something extra you need to buy more in addition to the set ?

yes you can switch between radio and parrott.Basically the parrott replaces the cd changer which is not very good anyway as you only have to go over a cigarette butt and it jumps. The volume works and you can change the stations. You get a small wireless remote to switch the tracks on the parrott.I use a usb stick with about 2500 tracks on and it sounds just as good as the cd changer and it goes through the amp.

its very simple to install with a couple of 2.5 jacks and sockets. Also the car can be retured to standard if need be.You just have to splice into the cd changer lead and run a cable into the center console. The only thing you have to do is have a cd in the changer playing all the time which is no problem.

Does that mean you did not install the parrot unika with your mki9200. Which allows you to control the parrot via the cars steering wheel switches?

Thats correct. All the happens is the cd changer is replaced by the parrot. Its a cool bit of kit.The screen displays the tracks being played even shows the album cover. You can change the wallpaper for a Jag picture take calls hands free and play music via bluetooth from your phone.

I have now removed the JVC KD-avx77 and fitted a parrot mki9000 with unika.

So I can control the parrot from the 4 steering wheel buttons, without the parrot remote.

So in answer to my original question, yes the Parrot UNIKA does work in my 1999 XK8.
