Default Have No Low Beams

2002 XK8 4.0 N/A

The low beams are the projector looking lights to the outside of the headlamp assembly, correct?

My low beams do not come on in auto or on settings on stalk. When I pull back for high beams then the low beams come on, then off when I release the stalk. I replaced the bulbs with Sylvania H1's and still don't work. I checked the fuse in front passenger fascia box and it was ok.

Any idea why I have no lights?

Thanks

Probably the switch stalk needs to be replaced.

Thanks! Was thinking along those lines, but in denial! Any tips here on R&R steering wheel?

Gratefully!

Do you have the JTIS on CD? There is a step by step instruction on how to get to it.

remove underscuttle (link to separate section in the JTIS for details)
remove steering column upper cowl (link to separate section in the JTIS for details)
remove steering column lower cowl (link to separate section in the JTIS for details)
lots of harnesses, plugs and mounting bolts...

if you need the JTIS, there's a link in the XK8 FAQ thread that you can download it and create your own CD.

I've fixed a couple of these where there was a broken wire on the switch, just had to resolder. Bad news is I couldn't do it without pulling the switch out of its mount. Removing upper and lower cowls is easy with phillips driver, two torx screws hold switch in place. Switch is a little tricky to get out of mount, you have to work it gently to avoid breaking.

I have one apart right now in my garage. If you're going to go there via removing the steering wheel, make sure you follow instructions regarding the air bag. Not a good idea to remove it w/o disconnecting the battery, then waiting the ensure capacitor discharge.
