Technically yes, but as Gus asks, I'm curious too, why do you want to do it?

It's too early in the morning to be reading electrical schematics but my blurry eyes would seem to be indicating that the CKPS, CPMS and Ignition modules are fed power from the ECM. Pull the ECM relay in the center of the ECM/TCM panel and check to verify there is B+ at that point. Power there and no power to the CKPS et al would seem to indicate that there is a problem with your new ECM.

Difficult to bypass the ECM.

Where did the 'new' ECM come from? New or used? Numbers match?

If you have power to the ECM and none on points from the ECM sorta gotta be the ECM, connector(s) or wiring in a very limited area.

I might be a little off base but I will say it anyway. Looking at what I could find in the history of your 1998 xk8 dilemma what you need to do is stop what you are doing and take a day away from the car and clear your head. It seems that the problems started when you installed the fog lamps compounding the problem be working on the TB plugs, TB and the body processer. You also say that you had a P0328 (knock sensor) and no spark. Wow where to start!

First of all forget the OBD codes for now! They will pop up randomly if the battery gets low and that will happen in a situation like this. I would like for you to check your power distribution system is intact. Your car will not function properly if one of the components is not receiving power. From the battery your power goes to the high power protection module, from there it goes to 6 separate fuse boxes. You need to make sure power is available to each point and you can find them on page 17 (Main Power Distribution) of the oneline. In doing this test you do not need the key on; however if it is loose or broken remove the battery terminal before repairs. 12vDC is unforgiving! In checking each location I want you to pull and move (do not short out) leads to check for proper connections. I have seen two cars that would not start because they had a problem with the HP protection module in the trunk being broken. It gets broken when the tire is installed in the trunk and bumps it. Give this a try!

I know this car is already on the way to the dealer, but for future reference;

I am pretty sure all inertia switches are used to cut power to the fuel pumps in the case of a crash. This is to reduce the chance of a fire by stopping the flow of fuel in a damaged vehicle. Since you had fuel but no spark, the inertia switch should be completely out of the loop.

From what it sounds like, I would bet a relay that is suppose to provide power to certain parts of the ignition system is out for some reason.

Talking dealer

hi, got a call from dealer, it was the ecm that needed to be re-programmed I guess you cant just swap out the ecm even though its the exact same part#. he said it wasn't communicating with tcm,bpm etc.
thanks for all your help guys I pick it up later today.
