Default Headlight Query - Was it my imagination

Hey guys,

Simple question--- Do the headlights turn off when you turn on your brights?

I thought they did. However, I just had the headlights replaced (water leakage for the 3rd time) and they worked on my steering column. Now when I flip on the brights the HIDs remain on.

Is my memory wrong ? Do the HID stay on ? Did my service guys touch something they shouldn't have ?

Thanks,

Dave B

My HID/Dip/Low beams remain on when I turn the high/bright beams on. The front fog lights shut off when I turn the High beams on. The rear fog lights remain on.

I think this is pretty much standard behavior for most cars since the mid-1980s or at least by the 1990s.
