Who here has disabled their headlight washers? More importantly, how did you do it? All they do is waste fluid and make a mess on the hood. I live under a Canada Goose flyway, I don't need any more hood messes haha.

 

I disabled mine by unhooking the solution line and plugging it. Haven't had a problem with it since

 

Did you unhook it here at what looks to me like the bottom of the pump on the left? Then there's another pump to the right that looks to me like the tube goes back to the windshield. Didn't think each would have its own pump (unless I'm wrong).

 

Skid Mark - The Powerwash Pump, a separate pump in the bottom of the reservoir is fused by a 30 amp fuse (#7) in the engine compartment fusebox. Should you pull the fuse it will disable the pump but probably give you a failure code on the dash. (Could try and find out)
The other suggestion would do something similar to RCSign and block the fluid line to the headlights, or tap into the powerwash line and divert it back into the reservoir. Your pump would still be active with the line to the headlamps blocked, and could easily be reconnected in the future.

 

I pulled the fuse awhile back...no codes and everything is good

Two ways to decipher the fuse box numbering:

-- the number is stamped in the fuse box in tiny, tiny lettering

-- match the amperage ratings on the fuses to those listed in the owners manual and count over

 

I just unplugged mine at the pump

 

In the picture you posted, #7 fuse is the 30 amp fuse in the right bank (the shorter of the two banks of fuses), and is the only 30 amp fuse in the bank.
This fuse is dedicated to the headlamp washer pump for it to be powerful enough to produce the amount of water pressure to force the spray nozzles out and spray the headlamps.
As others have mentioned, it appears there are alternatives to disable the pump, without producing fault codes.

Stevepaa....my advice is DON'T.. I've had my XK8 convertible for a week and am already tired of drying off my bonnet and wiping washer fluid off my face with the top down. I'm pulling fuse #7 today...can't wait to dump this feature. Thanks for the fuse info guys.

 

#7 pulled...no codes and no free eye wash courtesy of Coventry. but....and there's always a but...I noticed several other empty fuse sockets,which begs the question...what were/are those. Now I have to find a fuse box "description" or something that labels each fuse...anyone have that? Thanks in advance.
