headliner cleaning question
I've noted that several of the cognoscenti here recommend using brake cleaner for this job. So ... what's the best technique? Do we spray the stuff on the liner directly or on a cleaning cloth of some sort? Saturate the liner or just sort of dampen it? Some details please ...
It may depend on how much you have to clean, a spot or a large area the whole thing? I've cleaned mine using Ammo **** cleaner and using a Steamer. I use this on all my cars interiors and carpets. (see ammonyc utube on headliner cleaning). The steamer was a easy sell to wife since she's a bit of a cleaner (I'm not complaining at all) and we use it on floors, bathrooms etc quite a versatile machine. Mine is a mid line McCulloch for 150. Good power and a number of att. It's very good at detailing too using steam to clean gaps between things on the jag.
Just a brief spray of brake cleaner. You just want to get it damp enough to evaporate and take the stain with it. Don't plan on breathing much of the stuff.
Jaguar recommends rubbing alcohol so I put that into a spray bottle and nearly suffocated myself.

As discussed, check Ammonyc.com detailing website, the guys great
Don't know about brake cleaner but whatever APC you may use, don't soak the headliner, its a case of spraying onto the cloth and dabbing, working in until stain is removed

Thanks, guys. Started poking at it with CRC brake cleaner and microfiber cloth. Looks like a good improvement can be had.
Tom, I'm not sure inhaling this stuff is a lot different from the rubbing alcohol.
