HELP! 1997 XK8 motor in a 1969 XJ6
Hi.
I have a 1969 Jaguar xj6 and a 1997 xk8 motor. Is it possible to deactivate some sensors such as the abs and steering sensors so it can be installed in my 1969 xj6?

I have been able to mount it inside the engine bay and have attached the drive chain, I am using the 1997 wiring loom and ecm/computer and instrument panel. Maybe I might be able to reprogram the computer to avoid it going into failsafe/limp mode? Or would I have to install all the 1997 sensors and modules to the computer? Is this a modification that is possible? Please Help!!
I have fitted a XKR engine into a XJS before with a manual box but that was quite some years ago, but what I did was to throw away the ecu and use a stand alone system, doing this kind of swap today is much easier and cheaper. There are many companies out there nowadays which can do an ecu for you, your biggest issue will be your tranny, don't use the XK8 box but go more old school or even a manual if you wish.
Shame you don't have diesel Jags over there as the manual box from the twin turbo V6 diesel bolts straight on

I just realised you are in New Zealand
I use an Emerald on my track car, when I did the XJS I used a motec but that was very expensive as at the time the XKR had only been out a couple of months and the technology just wasn't out there like it is today.
