HELP! Looking at 03 XK8 coupe with 66.5k miles
Waiting for financing on this car it seems to be in great condition. The dealer has it listed at $14,995 with a excellent Carfax report. KBB has it at 17k, carFax has +$805 so retail is 18k. What do you guys think I Should offer? or should I just close the deal? I've driven the XJR sedan same yr but not the XK model, I'm 6'5" will i have enough leg and head room? I've been reading as much as possible and looked for 03 and newer for 4.2 V8 instead of 4.0 and plastic tenioner issues on earlier models, anything else to look for?
Thanks, Jag newbie but I did own a early 60's XK but returned it within the 30 day warranty after drivetrain issue.

Hey Doug, yep! What about leg and headroom? I've owned coupes before like the old 77 260Z and 02 CL500. Will it be roomy enough?
I have never been in one of the coupes but the convertible I have seems roomy enough in the front (but then again I am only 5'8"). Have you sat in the coupe yet or looked at any or are you just starting? If the rear in the couple is anything like the convertible forget about using that for anything other than extra storage or small animals.

Swansong,
I am 6'-2" and fit nicely into my XKR vert leg wise and height wise. However, I also have a 1978 280Z, and no car I have ever owned has as much leg room as the early Z cars as the foot cavity went under and to the side of the straight six engine. I would suggest sitting in the car for a short period and making sure you can maneuver your legs and check the headroom. I know that in my Pantera, both of these are considerable issues. Although I have a convertible, your are certainly welcome to take my car out for a ride and see how comfortable you are as I am in Los Angeles as well, just send me a message and I will get in touch.

I am 6-foot-7 and am miserable in my wife's 2006 XK8 convertible after about 45 minutes. No headroom unless the top is down, no legroom at all, my knees bump the steering wheel, and with that very narrow footwell there's nowhere to put my size 15 feet. Make certain you take this car out for multiple long drives before you elect to pull the trigger on it....
I had a 1974 Datsun 260Z. Bought it new in December 1974 (my first new car) and kept it for 13 years. Still miss it, and wish I had it today in its original showroom condition. That long hood and long footwell space provided me with just enough legroom to get comfortable everywhere else. I could drive that car all day and all night with no problems. Of course, I was 35+ years younger then and that certainly helped....

At only 5'11", I'll not be picking any fights with the guys from LA or NC!
To help you make a decision, perhaps the most critical measurement is seat base to head liner. With the seat at its lowest position, there is 35.5 inches from seat base to head liner in my Coupe.
With the seat in my preferred driving position, there's only 1" between the top of my head and the head liner. In the lowest seat position, there's no more than 2".

Hey Swan, there's no one on this forum that will take advantage, but it's never a goog idea to post a number in a public forum. Suggest you edit it out. There are other ways to make contact.
Good luck on your car search. The xk8/R is a beautiful machine!
