Hi Guys,

I have a 2010 XK and Jaguar recommends 8 quarts of Castrol 5w-30 Part Synthetic oil.

Since I'm a nut and don't drive the car too much, I want to do a 6 month oil change before my 1 year service. I found the oil here:

My question is, this is what Jag recommends. What do you guys think?

Also, what type of Oil Filter should I get with it?

I would use Castrol Edge. Espically since the car is that new and if you plan on keeping it. It is only about $1.00 more than syntec, per quart. But do buy the dealer filter or get one from Mann. You should be able to get this from Car Quest World Parts. You can read up on the difference of all castrol oils at the castrol web site.

 

Let me ask if I may exactly why you want to change the oil?

The reason I want to change it is because the car sits and I won't put 10k on it before the end of the year, so it's always good to swap the oil out every 6 months and not a huge expense since I can do it my self.
