I just had four new tires installed on the XK8. As I mentioned due to a wheel change by the previous owner I use 245/45R18 front and 255/45R18 rear. I bought Sumitomo tires as recommended by my dealer. And I have never been happier or seen so much improvement. Had Micheland Sport Flight on before. I immediately noticed a reduced vibration in the steering wheel even thinking back as to the vibration I had when the other tires were almost new. And they were a lot cheaper. It was $550 installed. I probably could have done like Ungn did and ordered them from Tire Rack but I need to support this shop run by friends of mine.

Thanks guys for all the help I received. She rolls real nice now.

I would love to be able to build my own rally computer. The current computers only are only good to 1/20 of a second and the military GPS guys I compete against have boxes that read to the .001 of second.
I suspect that is a software design problem.

The standard system call on most PC based systems
resolves to 1/18 second. But, there is also the possibilty
of using the high resolution timer. It is a matter of
familiarity.

Reading from both front wheel sensors and integrating
the results could be helpful in correcting for turns and
brake skidding.

It could be done with say a Raspberry Pi or similar
since they have a lot of add-on ports for sensors.

Unless you are going to do some racing you sure don't need those expensive 18s. You can probably put on some nice looking aftermarket 20s including tires for about the same price and never have to worry about expensive poor wearing 18s only supplied by a few companies. Thanks Tom.

Default 245/50r18

Has anyone tried a 245/50r18 on the front of an 02 xkr? I want that size on front and back. Don't think the rear will have any issues. Current setup is 255/35r20 front and 285/30r20 rear.

245/50R18's are 27.7" tall, which could cause rubbing issues if the shock mounts are old.

245/45's are the standard size.

Default Tire size

This combo works for me so far...may go 255 up front if they don't rub. The extra sidewall on the 275s is better in Houston so far. Wider backs make it very very grippy. They barely rubbed the inside arches without the 15mm spacers. Some people hate spacers, but I've seen Formula 1 cars running them. I would still like to drop the back 1/2" or maybe even 1".
